  • Have you heard the name of mood swing? We all have heard but ignore it only by speaking mood swings. Mood swing could even be a simple word for you, but in technical language it’s called mental disturbance.
  • Mood changes suddenly, from the foremost serious to the foremost happy, such things are associated with our mental disorder
  • In a bipolar, someone is trapped in both moods of happiness and sorrow. Neither does he feel happy nor sad.

OFTEN, LIFESTYLE FACTORS PLAY A TASK WITHIN THE ONSET OF MOOD SWINGS. PEOPLE MAY HAVE SUDDEN CHANGES IN MOOD IF THEY ARE:

  • Experiencing a giant life change, like moving home or changing job
  • Feeling stressed or overwhelmed
  • Not getting enough sleep
  • Not eating healthily
  • Taking medications that impact mood or sleep
  • Mood swings in males and females

COMMON MOOD-ALTERING CONDITIONS THAT AFFECT INCLUDE:

  • Bipolar disorder – major affective disorder is when someone experiences periods of maximum emotional highs (mania) and lows (depression). These highs and lows may occur rarely or several times per annum.
  • Major affective disorder (MDD) – MDD is more in women than men. People with MDD has persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in things they typically enjoy.
  • Cyclothymia – Cyclothymia is when someone experiences emotional highs and lows. it’s quite like major disturbance but may be a smaller amount severe and fewer frequent.
  • Persistent disturbance (PDD) – People with PDD experience long-term feelings of low mood
  • Borderline disturbance (BPD) – Someone with BPD can experience intense mood swings and self-image issues, which they will have difficulty managing their behavior people with BPD have an intense fear of abandonment and have unstable relationships.
  • Physical health conditions – Physical health conditions can have a significant effect on a person’s mood.

CAUSES OF MOOD SWINGS IN FEMALES:

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

PMS causes many symptoms just before the onset of a menstrual period. These include:

  • Mood swings
  • Bloating
  • Breast tenderness
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Food cravings

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)

PMDD could also be a more severe type of PMS. It affects of women of childbearing age. It often co-occurs with depression or anxiety.

  • Extreme changes in mood
  • Persistent irritability or anger
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Mood swings in pregnancy

Hormonal changes in pregnancy can cause sudden shifts in mood, yet as feelings of tension and vulnerability. Physical changes may also influence a woman’s emotions.

Menopause

women experience mood changes during or after menopause. Other symptoms include hot flashes, sleep problems, and loss of libido.

AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR MOOD SWING:

 

1. STRESS CARE TABLET: It is an amazing combination of natural herbs like Sarpgandha, Brahmi, Tagar, jatamansi. It helps to relieve stress conditions. They help to pacify the nervous system and also help to increase mental and physical performance. In Ayurveda when there is an imbalance of three energies i.e. Vata, pitta, and Kapha, it leads to disease. Vata has a sub dosha named prana doshas which regulates the sensory perception, brain, and mind. Tarpak Kapha subtype of kapha, governs cerebrospinal fluid, sadhak pitta subtype of pitta doshas governs emotions and their impact on the heart. So any vitiation of these doshas leads to stress. It act as Anti-depressant, relieves Insomnia, Anxiety, and helps in the sign and symptoms of mood swings.

Recommended Dosage – Take 1 tablet twice a day with normal water.
